IYACON, taken from the Caribbean words “IYA” meaning High Aspirations and “CON” meaning The Connection of People, is a program aimed at reducing poverty and implementing a system of businesses that will allow many citizens of all countries the benefits of access to the internet. IYACON is a green friendly solution for recycling phones, which will be utilized by impoverished citizens to help bridge the digital divide. IYACON takes used smartphones, laptops, and tablets and uses them to help bring digital literacy to both the local community and third world countries in need.
Working in conjunction with Community Technology Network we will be donating laptops to low income individuals in need in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are asking for donations of hand held electronics that will be traded in for laptops for these individuals in need. If you would like to help make our program a success please contact Kelli Joy regarding any electronics donations.
